Our Story – Tornado Relief in Washington, IL

September 4, 2020

In November 2013, an EF-4 tornado hit the town of Washington, Illinois. This community, located east of Peoria, had between 250-500 buildings damaged or destroyed and about 120 people were injured.

New Life volunteers showed up in the spring of 2014 to help in the long recovery effort to clean up the land.

In some cases it was to clean up debris from fields so they could safely be planted.

In some cases it was removing debris from building sites so the reconstruction of homes and structures could proceed.

New Life is a church that cares for others, even outside of our community, and responds with action to get the hard work accomplished that allows for rebuilding and giving hope to those affected.
