Our Story – Church Signs

April 8, 2020

1979 -This is the first sign we have a picture of.  It was along Rt. 53 announcing our church, our Pastor Hal Brown, offering two worship services, and free preschool.

1981 – New double sided brick marquee. Words of wisdom and inspiration as well as worship times were always in view from Rt. 53. Sometimes words of wisdom were so long there was a traffic hazard as cars slowed to read them.

1998 – Double sided sign with larger lettering to advertise the options for worship which at one time, included Saturday nights at 5:30 pm. Flower planter under the sign added a touch of beauty all spring/summer long.

2020 – Same structure but was updated last year with our iconic butterfly logo to match the cross in the sanctuary. In addition, our website address was added to the bottom as it becomes a main source of information for our congregation and the community to share our mission and ministries. During the time of COVID-19, when there was not a need to advertise our worship times (all online), it provided an opportunity for comforting message.

*If you have any pictures of the first sign used from 1970-1979, please share with Susan Brown so we can update our pictorial history.
