Our Story – Childrens Christmas Programs

December 25, 2020

In December 1970 the church membership was 238 (and most of those were under three feet tall!). It was a great time to start having Christmas Programs featuring children! It created beautiful memories, funny moments and hopefully a child-like wonder at the celebration of Jesus birth. It has taken many forms over the years such as telling the Christmas story with costumed characters, Christmas plays, sharing Christmas traditions from around the world, children’s cantata with songs from each class, and even a family adventure of “unpacking the mystery of Christmas.” It has also taken many adults who stepped up to lead, direct, practice, and create costumes over the years. We are grateful for all those individuals for helping to make the Christmas story come alive.

Some of the past themes were:

1987 – The Customs of Christmas

1989, 1994, 2002 –  Angels, Lambs, Ladybugs & Fireflies

1993 – Three Wee Kings

1995 – O My Stars Its Christmas

1997 – Holiday In Bethlehem

1998 – The Grumpy Shepherd

1999, 2003, 2008 – Christmas Around the World

2004 – It’s a Jingle Out There

2011 – The Jesse Tree

2014 – Unplugged Christmas

Just wanted to include some pictures from over the years. (Please remember that some of the past years are on videotapes that have not yet been added to our digital pictorial history.) We hope you enjoy these memories and dreams of future gatherings for Christmas.
